Process

Step 1: Choose an insect.

You will assigned to a group of 4.
Which insect would you like to become? Each of you will research a different insect. Click on each insect below to help you choose. You will only research one insect.

Step 2: Research your insect.

Find out:
What is it's habitat
What does it eat
What is it's life cycle
Does it help the environment? How?
Is it harmful to the environment? How?

Step 3: Group discussion.

Answer the following questions. Explain your opinion and why you feel a certain way.

Do you think insects help our environment?
Are insects important to the environment or humans?
Do you think the insect that you researched is a "pest" and should be exterminated?

Step 4: Write a letter to the Exterminator.

This is an individual task. Save yourself and your friends! Write a letter to the exterminator to explain how you are helpful to the environment. Explain why you and your fellow insect friends should live.

Click on the link below for a letter template to follow.

Step 5: Design a group poster.

Create a poster to send to the exterminator. You will need to include a title, your habitat, your letter, pictures of your insect, and diagrams of your life cycle.
